Why use the SCUT Tool?

The SCUT tool is a powerful and efficient solution to common issues encountered when removing Apex One agents. Here are some of the situations where the tool may come in handy:

  • When the agent is corrupted, and the traditional method of removal fails
  • When the uninstall password is forgotten
  • When the agent is lost and cannot be removed without a password
  • When an older version of the agent needs to be removed before installing a new version
  • When the agent cannot be upgraded, and a replacement with a new version is needed

Follow the step-by-step guide below to download and utilize the SCUT tool:

  1. Log in to the Business Support Portal using your account credentials to access the SCUT tool.
  2. Click Your Username on the top right and then click Dashboard.

  3. On the left pane, click Diagnostic Tools, and go to "Other Tools" section.
  4. Click the ZIP file link icon to initiate the download process.

  5. Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP file to your preferred directory.
  6. Depending on your version of Apex One, copy the Apex One folder to the affected machine.
  7. On the affected machine, open Command Prompt as an administrator and navigate to the directory where the Apex One folder is located.
  8. Run the SCUT Tool using either of the following commands:
    SCUT.exe -noinstall (for silent removal)
    SCUT.exe -noinstall -dbg (to show the running procedures)
  9. Wait for the uninstall process to complete, and reboot the machine when prompted. You can then attempt to install the agent again.
 
It is important to note that the SCUT tool will expire periodically for security reasons. If you require a longer expiration period, contact Trend Micro Technical Support for assistance.
