If users have installed Apex One and they want to install Apex One Endpoint Sensor, they can follow this workaround:

  1. Launch the Trend Micro Apex One Installer Maintenance Mode.
    • Through the Apex One Installation Package:
      • On the Apex One server computer, execute the Apex One Installation Package.
    • Through Microsoft Windows Add/Remove Programs:
      1. On the Apex One server computer, launch the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.
      2. Select "Trend Micro Apex One" and click Change.

  2. Once the Trend Micro Apex One Installer Maintenance Mode console appears, click Next.
  3. Input the password created during Apex One installation.

  4. Select "Install Endpoint Sensor" and click Next to finish the setup.

  5. Open MMC Services console, then start Trend Micro Advanced Threat Assessment Service and Trend Micro Endpoint Sensor Service.
  6. Deploy the Activation Code of Apex One Endpoint Sensor through Apex Central. Refer to the Enabling Endpoint Sensor section in the Apex Central Installation and Upgrade Guide.
  • Problem: "please insert disk 1 that contains the file data2.cab" is encountered when trying to install Endpoint Sensor using Apex One Maintenance Mode
  • Possible Causes:
    • Endpoint Sensor Installation package may not be available on the directory on the following registry key:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{E0CA6191-52E8-41E0-96B2-05EA08E6869C}

    • Remnants of the previous Endpoint Sensor are still present on the server machine if it was previously deployed on the same server.
  • Solution:
    • Ensure that the Apex One Server is running the latest patch. Update the server to the latest build if running an older build. Visit Trend Micro Download Center to download the latest patches for Apex One.
    • Verify if the Package location under the registry key is present.
      • If the installer package is not present at the indicated location in the registry, contact Trend Micro Technical Support for further assistance.
      • If the installer package is present, reboot the machine and attempt to run the Apex One Maintenance mode on Programs and features to verify if the Endpoint Sensor would proceed with the installation.
    • If the Endpoint Sensor had been previously deployed on the same machine and had to be redeployed:
      • Verify if the following registry hive is present "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\iES"
      • If Yes, proceed to contact support for assistance on removing possible remnants.
  • For case where the issues persists, or if additional assistance is needed:
    • Secure the following details needed by our support team:
      • Screenshot of the error encountered while running the Apex One Maintenance mode setup.
      • Screenshot of the registry directory identifying the installation source.
      • Collect Case Diagnostic Tool Logs for support to identify if there are other clues that can be helpful in resolving the issue.
    • Provide the details to support by creating a support ticket via Trend Micro Technical Support.
