Follow this workaround for Google Chrome version 80 self-sign certificate issue (Steps for Windows Platform):
- Open Chrome and type the DSM URL. As an example, https://dsm_URL:4119/.
- When it shows the certificate error, click Advanced and proceed to dsm_host (unsafe).
- In Google Chrome navigate to Menu > More tools > Create shortcut.
Click the image to enlarge.
- Click Create when "Create shortcut?" dialog appears.
Click the image to enlarge.
- You will see the shortcut you just created on the desktop. Right-click on it and click Properties.
Click the image to enlarge.
- In the shortcut tab locate the "Target" field. After chrome_proxy.exe add "--ignore-certificate-errors". Click Apply.
Click the image to enlarge.
- Double-click the DSM shortcut. You will not see certificate error pages anymore but you will still see "Not secure icon" in font of DSM URL.
Click the image to enlarge.
Below are some limitations and security risks of this workaround:
- If another Chrome browser or session is open before double-clicking the shortcut, the workaround may not work and the certificate error would appear again. Make sure all Chrome browser sessions are closed before performing the workaround.
- After the workaround is performed and another Chrome page is opened, it will have the same behavior which is ignored certificate error. To make sure that other applications are not affected, close the Deep Security web console before viewing other web pages so that the Chrome certificate behavior will go back to normal.
You are using an unsupported command-line flag: --ignore-certificate-errors. Stability and security will suffer.
The browser will not prompt or stop you if you visit an HTTPS or an SSL enabled website with an untrusted certificate.
