Trend Micro Standalone Smart Protection Server run on CentOS Linux 7. The Smart Protection Server R&D team has hardened that product based on the Center for Internet Security (CIS) standard for CentOS Linux 7 Benchmark. The Smart Protection Server 3.3 has passed Levels 1 and 2 of the CIS Benchmark Server assessment conducted in 2019.

Hardening involves making changes to secure the system and make it less vulnerable to attack. For Smart Protection Server, the changes included removing unnecessary software, disabling unneeded services, and configuring system settings to use the principle of least privilege, wherever applicable.

Trend Micro does not recommend altering or customizing the default configurations of the CentOS Linux 7 image hosting the Smart Protection Server, as it might result in system and application malfunction.

Trend Micro has released Smart Protection Server 3.3 Patch 10 Build 1302 at the Trend Micro Download Center. This patch contains accumulated fixes and enhancements.
