For Customers using Trend Vision One Endpoint Security - Standard Endpoint Protection, no changes are required. However, for customers using Trend Vision One Endpoint Security - Server & Workload Protection and Trend Cloud One integrated with Trend Vision One, there is a new setting Allow Trend Vision One Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) support and cloned virtual machines support the machine cloning for Trend Vision One endpoint, even when no prior action is taken before cloning. This ensures that cloned machines will have unique GUIDs, and each Trend Vision One Endpoint agents on the same endpoint will utilize the same GUID.

Trend Vision One Endpoint Security - Server & Workload Protection

  1. Log in to your Trend Vision One foundation account.
  2. Navigate to ENDPOINT SECURITY OPERATIONS > Server & Workload Protection > Administration > System Settings > Agents > Agent-Initiated Activation.
  3. Locate the setting "Allow Trend Vision One Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) support and cloned virtual machines".

System Settings

  • For customers who have been using Trend Vision Endpoint Security before February 5th 2024, this VDI setting is not enabled by default. It must be manually enabled by the customer.
  • For customers who create the product instance or add existing product after February 5th 2024, this VDI setting will be enabled automatically.

When this setting is enabled, the options “Reactivate cloned Agents” and “Reactivate unknown Agents” will be grey out but automatically enabled.

Reactivate Cloned AGents

If you enable Allow Trend Vision One Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) support and cloned virtual machines, and you prefer not to upgrade agents automatically, we recommend disabling the Automatically upgrade Windows/Linux/Unix/macOS agents on activation function. You can do this by navigating to Administration > Agents > Agent Upgrade.
