Do the following:

  1. Apply the latest Microsoft Service Packs, updates, and other required updates before installing OfficeScan.
  2. Configure the exclusion using these steps:
    1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
    2. Go to Agents > Agent Management > Settings > Real-time Scan > Scan Exclusion.
    3. Under Scan Exclusion, enable the following options:
      • Enable scan exclusion
      • Apply scan exclusion settings to all scan types
    4. Add the following directories, files, and folders in their appropriate boxes:
      • Scan Exclusion List (Directories)
      • Scan Exclusion List (Files)
      • Scan Exclusion List (File Extensions)
  3. For the Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) server, exclude the following:
    • D:\Wsus\WSusContent
    • %windir%\Wsus

    Where "Drive" is the drive letter where you installed Windows Software Update Services server.

  4. For the Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft released the updated article which includes the full list of exclusions to be applied:
    Antivirus programs may contribute to file backlogs in SMS 2.0 and in SMS 2003.
