Recommendation
DDI uses a number of patterns to detect virus, malware, and network threats, etc. For instance, Deep Discovery Malware Pattern (Virus Pattern) is updated at least once daily while other pattern files might have different schedules.. In addition, patterns can be also be released on critical emergency situations caused by new threats. Therefore, Trend Micro recommends:
- Configuring scheduled updates and setting the update schedule to every two hours to ensure that the DDI components are up-to-date.
- Enabling Retry unsuccessful updates and specifying the Number of retry attempts and Retry interval if the update fails due to heavy traffic or unreliable connections are experienced.
Configuration
Users can check the current and latest versions used by DDI via Administration > Updates on the management console.
Check the Current and Latest Versions of Components
DDI has the ability to automatically check the update source based on the specified frequency (The default is Enabled.). To configure an update schedule, do the following:
-
Go to Administration > Updates > Component Updates > Scheduled.
-
Select Enable Scheduled Updates and the update schedule by Hour, Day, or Week. Trend Micro recommends setting the update schedule to every two hours.
-
