5. CVE-2020-8599: CVSS 10 (CRITICAL) – Trend Micro Apex One and OfficeScan server contain a vulnerable EXE file that could allow a remote attacker to write arbitrary data to an arbitrary path on affected installations and bypass ROOT login. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

Mitigating Factors

Exploiting these type of vulnerabilities generally require that an attacker has access (physical or remote) to a vulnerable machine. Customers are encouraged to review and ensure the product servers and management consoles are restricted to trusted networks and/or users as appropriate.

In addition to timely application of patches and updated solutions, customers are also advised to review remote access to critical systems and ensure policies and perimeter security is up-to-date.

However, even though an exploit may require several specific conditions to be met, due to the critical nature of these vulnerabilities, Trend Micro strongly encourages customers to update to the latest builds as soon as possible.
