Make sure the device where you want to restore the snapshot meets the following requirements:
- The TOS version on the device is the same as the TOS version that was installed when the snapshot was taken.
- The device is the same model as the device where the snapshot was taken. For example, you can restore a snapshot from a 2200T to a 2200T.
When restoring a snapshot, keep in mind:
- The contents of the system Keystore are not included in the snapshot. When you restore a snapshot to a different device, you should plan to also import any private key information from the device where the snapshot was taken.
- Never delete certificates used in snapshots with or without SSL configurations. Although the system will still complete its reboot sequence after restoring a snapshot with its SSL configuration (and corresponding device certificate) removed, the restored SSL configuration will not be functional until you update the private key for each certificate or replace the entire SSL configuration.
- When you want to restore a snapshot to a different device and URL Reputation Filtering is enabled, you must first synchronize the Reputation database fully after you restore the snapshot. The snapshot does not include the ThreatDV URL Reputation Feed and User-defined URL Entries database.
- The snapshot includes the license package, which provides license information for each of your TippingPoint devices. If the license package included in the snapshot is outdated, restore the snapshot and then download and install an updated license package from the TMC.
- If an external ZPHA was configured on the original device, add an external ZPHA to the target device or update the configuration to remove the ZPHA.
The external flash drive (CFast or SSD) located on the front panel of an IPS/TPS device contains the logs and snapshot files of the device. The snapshot will only exist if a snapshot has been completed. This card can be removed from one device and installed in a similar model device. Once the flash drive is installed, the snapshot from the flashcard can be restored to the new device. For the new device to accept the system snapshot from the flash drive of the existing device, the device must first have the OBE configuration completed. All configuration data completed during the OBE process will be retained, even after the new flashcard is installed.
Now that the OBE is completed on the new device, log into the LSM and navigate to System > Update > System Snapshot. Then, navigate to the correct snapshot and click the circular icon to restore the system snapshot.
