Manually Updating the Pattern File of a Security Server
- Download the Official Pattern Release (OPR).
- Extract the pattern file lpt$vpn.xxx (where xxx refers to the pattern file version) to the ...\PCCSRV folder. For example, C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\SecurityServer\PCCSRV\. After a few minutes, the Security Server will deploy the new pattern file to the agents.
Manually Updating the Pattern File of Security Agents (including Hosted Agents)
- Log on to the WFBS console.
- On the left pane, look for the Security Agents Tab.

- Create a Group for Security Agents that will have the settings for OPR Manual update.

Note that this requires to move the Security Agents first to the correct group to be able to set its settings for offline update.
- Configure the policy for Scan Settings into Conventional Scan.

Note that you may choose to change the other settings and exclusions before you disconnect the connection of the SA from the Internet.
- Save the settings and allow the agents to get the Conventional Scan Policy that we deployed. You may verify the settings and that should make the Smart Scan grayed out.

- Download the Official Pattern Release (OPR).
- Log on to the Security Agent as an administrator.
- Stop the Security Agent services. To manually stop the services, open the services console by typing services.msc on the Windows Start box. You can also open the services console by going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services (Windows NT/2000/XP client machines) or by going to Computer Management (right-click Computer > Manage) and opening Services and Applications > Services(newer client machines). Once inside the Services console, stop the following services:
- Client Server Security Agent Listener or Trend Micro Security Agent Listener
- Client Server Security Agent RealTime Scan or Trend Micro Security Agent Real-time Scan
- Trend Micro Security Agent Firewall

Trend Micro Security Agent Proxy Service.
- Extract the pattern file (lpt$vpn.xxx, where xxx is the pattern file number) to the Client Security Agent directory. For example, C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent\ or C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Agent\.
- Restart the services in Step 3 or reload the Security Agent. To reload the Security Agent, click Start > Programs > Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent > Client/Server Security Agent.
