Use the following procedures to update the VSAPI scan engines and patterns manually
Perform the steps in this KB article: Performing a manual update or rollback of the scan engine in Apex One
- Download the Official Pattern Release (OPR) or Controlled Pattern Release (CPR).
- Extract the pattern file (lpt$vpn.xxx) to the PCCSRV folder. Where 'xxx' = pattern file version.
- Download the latest Official Smart Scan Pattern file, icrc$oth.zip.
- Extract the pattern file icrc$oth.XXX (icrc$oth.zip) to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\Apex One\PCCSRV folder.
- Go to the Trend Micro Scan Engine Updates page and then download the latest scan engine for Windows Kernel 32-bit/64-bit (vsapi-KD-x.xxx-yyyy.zip).
- Stop the following services or unload the Apex One client:
- Apex One NT Listener
- Apex One Real-time Scan
- Create a back up of the following files in the C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent folder.
- tmfilter.sys
- vsapint.sys
- tmpreflt.sys
- tmxpflt.sys
- Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file to the C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent folder.
- Start the following services and start the Apex One client:
- Apex One NT Listener
- Apex One Real-time Scan
On the Apex One client, do the following:
This way of updating is only recommended in emergency situations where a client needs to be updated on time. Generally, updates should be done via the Apex One infrastructure.
- Download the Official Pattern Release (OPR) or the Controlled Pattern Release (CPR).
- Right-click the Apex One icon in the Windows taskbar and then select Unload Apex One Client.
- Enter the unload password.
- Extract the pattern file (lpt$vpn.xxx, where xxx is the pattern file number) to the Apex One home directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent.
- Load the Apex One client.
- Download the latest Conventional Enterprise CPR file, lptxxx.zip. Where 'xxx' = pattern file version.
- Right-click the Apex One icon in the Windows taskbar and then select Unload Apex One Client.
- Enter the unload password.
- Extract the pattern file (lpt$vpn.xxx, where xxx is the pattern file number) to the Apex One home directory.
By default, this is C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent.
- Load the Apex One client.
- Download the latest Official Smart Scan Pattern file, icrc$oth.zip.
- Right-click the Apex One icon in the Windows taskbar and then select Unload Apex One Client.
- Enter the unload password.
- Extract the pattern file (icrc$oth.xxx, where xxx is the pattern file number) to the Apex One home directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent.
- Load the Apex One client.
On the Apex One server:
- Download the Bandage Pattern Release (BPR) from the download site that Trend Micro Technical Support provided.
- Extract the pattern file (icrc$oth.xxx) to the PCCSRV folder.
Note: 'xxx' = pattern file version
On the Apex One client:
- Download the Bandage Pattern Release (BPR) from the download site that Trend Micro Technical Support provided.
- Right-click the Apex One icon in the Windows taskbar and then select Unload Apex One Client.
- Enter the unload password.
- Extract the pattern file (icrc$oth.xxx, where xxx is the pattern file number) to the Apex One home directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client or C:\Program Files (x86\Trend Micro\Security Agent.
- Load the Apex One client.
- Launch the ClnPack.exe file located under Apex One Server installation path\PCCSRV\Admin\Utility\ClientPackager\.
- From Package type drop-down list, select Update.
- Choose the corresponding Window operating system type and Scan Method from the drop-down list.
- On the Components section, select the patterns you want to include in this package.
Available components may vary depending on the Apex One version.
- Specify the output file path.
- While manually replacing pattern or engine files on endpoints, it will be required to have the agent unloaded.
- For Apex One server with internet connection, you may refer to this article to manually update the components via web console.
