Users who have already applied the related Microsoft KB can follow the workaround below to address this issue:

  1. Download the KA0018987.zip.
  2. Prepare copy of the latest TBL pattern file as follows:
    1. Log in to Trend Micro Apex One server's web console.
    2. Go to the Administration > Smart Protection > Integrated Server screen.
    3. Under the Update Source section, find the current update source of File Reputation Services.
    4. Assume the source "Trend Micro ActiveUpdate Server" is selected.
    5. Get the update source URL (e.g., the update source URL is https://osce14-ilspn30-p.activeupdate.trendmicro.com/activeupdate).
    6. Open web browser to download the latest TBL pattern file, https://{UPDATE SOURCE URL}/pattern/icrc$tbl.zip (e.g., https://osce14-ilspn30-p.activeupdate.trendmicro.com/activeupdate/pattern/icrc$tbl.zip).
    7. Extract the latest TBL pattern file (icrc$tbl.XXX) from the ZIP file (icrc$tbl.zip).
  3. Open Services (services.msc), right-click “Apex One Master Service” and click Stop. Make sure the “Trend Micro Smart Protection Server“ service is in Stop status.
  4. Go to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\spsc\bin\” folder in the Trend Micro Apex One server installation directory.
  5. Back up the importmanager.exe application (file version: 2.7.1098).
  6. Extract and replace the importmanager.exe application (file version: 2.72.1002) from the KA0018987.zip to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\spsc\bin\” folder.
  7. Go to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\“ folder and open the "FRSUpdateCounter.ini" file.
  8. Under the "UpdateCounter" section, manually reset the “CONT_FULL_TBLPTN_COUNT” counter as 0.

    FRSUpdateCounter.ini
    [UpdateCounter]

  9. Save the changes and close the file.
  10. Go to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\activeupdate\” folder.
  11. Find and remove all files under the “\WSS\activeupdate\tmp\” folder. If the “tmp” folder does not exist, create a new “tmp” folder.
  12. Copy the TBL pattern file (icrc$tbl.XXX) from Step 2 into the “\WSS\activeupdate\tmp\” folder.
  13. Go to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\“ folder.
  14. Find and rename the “service.ini” file as “service_tmp.ini” to prevent the service from invoking.
  15. Open the Command Prompt and select “Run as Administrator”. Switch to the “\PCCSRV\WSS\” path in the Trend Micro Apex One server installation directory.
  16. Execute the import pattern command below and wait until the command execution is finished.

    Command Prompt
    AU_FRS.exe --servimporttbl

  17. Roll back the “service.ini” file from the “service_tmp.ini” in the “\PCCSRV\WSS\“ folder.
  18. Go to Services (services.msc), right-click the Apex One Master Service and click Start. Make sure the “Trend Micro Smart Protection Server“ service is in Running status.
